On a sunny day July 2003 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, it took a make-up artist,
a photographer, a helping hand of a friend and a willing volunteer approximately 5 hours
to recreate the Aladdin Sane album sleeve.
My friend Jacqueline came up with the idea of having my picture taken as David Bowie
as a birthday present. I thought that would be a great thing to do and I came up with
the Aladdin Sane album sleeve, which is probably the hardest one to recreate.
But thanks to my theater activities I knew a make-up artist who could do the job.
My friend knew a photographer who could shoot the whole thing.
It was a lot of work for Ivy, the make-up artist, but after 5 hours she had me painted
all over my face and Fred, the photographer, could take my picture. Afterwards he added
some details on the computer and deleted some unwished pieces of wig. Now you
can check the result. For seeing Ivy at work check make-up 1 and make-up 2.
At the result page you can see Fred's version of Aladdin Sane.
